Alan Teather Quilting

Alan is a disabled veteran, who went back to University to study Contemporary Textiles and products at CCAD. He graduated with a BA (Hons) in 2019. As quilting is his first love, he decided to start a business. So, in November 2019 with the help from Tedco who organised a Virgin startup loan, Alan Teather Quilting was born. ATQ started trading from a start-up unit in The Bis Centre, Whitby Street. He expanded twice within The Bis Centre but due to lack of footfall and advertising decided to move to retail premises. Not only is the shop more accessible for footfall but also by public transport or car parking, being near the Interchange and train station. It is also directly opposite the Fashion and Costume Department of the Northern College of Art, which has been great for both ATQ and students alike. ATQ now offer a range of longarm quilting services, over 600 cotton fabrics, workshops and classes. Alan prides himself and this business on fantastic customer service, and with his friendly nature he is always willing to help, even if it is just for advice.
